E-science Studentship in Experimental Particle Physics

Applications are invited for a PPARC funded e-science studentship in the Department of Physics & Astronomy to work with Dr Paul Soler and Dr Chris Parkes from the Experimental Particle Physics group on e-science applications for the LHCb experiment at CERN. The research work will involve the adaptation of the LHCb physics analysis package (named DaVinci) to a distributed computing environment across the Grid.

The studentship will be available from 1 October 2003 for three years.

Applications should be made directly to the Physical Sciences Graduate School http://www.physci.gla.ac.uk/ and should include the application form (Subject Area: Experimental Particle Physics, LHCb e-science Project), a curriculum vitae and references from two referees to be filled in the enclosed referee’s report form. Completed forms should be sent to:

The Secretary, Physical Sciences Graduate School, University of Glasgow, Joseph Black Building, Glasgow G12 8QQ, Scotland, United Kingdom  (fax no. 0141-330-4371).

Further enquiries can be made to Dr Paul Soler (Telephone 01235 445213) or to Dr Chris Parkes (Telephone 0141 3305885) and by E-mail: p.soler@physics.gla.ac.uk or c.parkes@physics.gla.ac.uk. Further information may be found at http://ppewww.ph.gla.ac.uk/~psoler/lhcb.html
