Preface

Magnetic Core Memories

What they are and how they function

The object of this tutorial is to describe the principles of magnetic core memories in a simple and clear way. It explains why cores with a rectangular hysteresis loop are used, the principle of coincident currents and the way a decimal number is stored and extracted from the memory.

The main differences between a human brain and an artificial 'electronic' brain are in the manner in which information is applied, stored, recalled and utilised.

The tutorial was originally published for customers of the Industrial Electronics Division of Mullard Limited.
